Brand and marketing

I care about branding and polish across the company

Chronicle Heritage’s PowerPoint template was rudimentary, and Codifi’s training deck started in it. I redesigned that deck slide for slide in the brand’s colors and Barlow type, with one idea to a slide. It was the deck for Codifi’s internal training in April 2026.

My title slide: “Workflows & core functionality” in heavy dark capitals with “core functionality” in ochre, “Chronicle Heritage presents Codifi” above it, and the session, format and audience in a row beneath.
The draft’s title slide in the company template: the Chronicle Heritage and Codifi logos side by side, and “Codifi: Understanding the Foundation” in grey on a pale ground with gold contour lines.

The template set every heading in Calibri, not the brand’s Barlow, so I fixed its theme too.

I also zipped the brand into a kit for agentic design

Anyone could drop the folder into a project and have their AI agent design to the brand’s patterns. It held the official guide, a shorter one written for the agent, the tokens, the fonts, the logos and a letterhead for each of 31 offices.

  • Chronicle Heritage Brand Package/
  • README.mdwhat is inside and how to hand it to a tool
  • brand-guide.mdthe design system, for people
  • design-tokens.jsoncolors and type as tokens
  • css/variables.cssthe tokens, ready for a web page
  • tailwind/tailwind.preset.jsthe same, for Tailwind
  • fonts/Barlow, Lato and Source Sans 3
  • logos/every lockup, as SVG and PNG
  • official-guidelines/the agency’s guide, and a text copy a tool can read
  • templates/reports, a letterhead for each of 31 offices, slides

I rebuilt Codifi’s site around the people who use it

The old site sold field data management by sector and never answered the question a visitor brings: why is this for me? The new hero names who it’s for, from wetland scientists to archaeologists, and each section after it takes one pain away. It speaks in the product’s own type and colors, so the site and the app read as one thing.

The new Codifi home page: on dark teal, “Field data for ecologists” over “The whole field workflow. One product.” in heavy capitals, an iPad showing a wetland boundary on a map, and steps along the foot: form, collect, QA, report.
The old Codifi home page: on a pale grey ground, “Codifi: Field Data Management Software. When forms aren’t enough.” with Free Trial and Talk to an Expert buttons, and a photograph of two people in hard hats below.

Codifi’s App Store listing

I designed the App Store screens from the same renders as the marketing site, so the listing matches the site.

  • App Store screen. Headline: Collect the right data, the first time, every time. An iPad shows a 3D terrain map with survey records.
  • App Store screen. Headline: Office and field, one platform. An iPad and a laptop show the same project map.
  • App Store screen. Headline: Built-in relationships, no redundant data entry. A diagram links a site to its units, trenches, features, shovel test pits and artifacts.
  • App Store screen. Headline: Scan a code. Start working. An iPad shows a tree of records ready to scan.

I gave Codifi a brand kit in Canva

Our hiring posts were going out on LinkedIn looking unfinished. I offered our CEO a brand kit in Canva with a presentation template, a hiring post and release notes, so customer success and hiring could put out polished posts without waiting on me.

Codifi’s Brand Kit in Canva, the Logos page: the wordmark alone, the mark alone in Terra Green, stacked logos in white, yellow, two colors and green, and square social icons in yellow on green and green on yellow.
  • The kit’s type styles: Title, Subtitle, Heading, Subheading, Section header, Body, Quote and Caption, each set in its own weight and face.
  • The kit’s palette: Terra Green, Steel Grey, Spotlight Yellow (#f9ef00), White, Black and a Primary CTA blue, then alert, success and caution colors for bright and dark backgrounds, and accents in pink, blue and purple.

Release notes followed the same kit. These are two pages I made for the mobile app’s 1.3 and 2.0 releases.

  • The cover of Codifi’s Publish Notes, version 1.1.15, July 2024: the Codifi mark on dark teal and a framed Publish Notes panel with the version and date.
  • The first page of the 1.3 release notes, “The Pathfinder Update”: a dark teal header with the yellow mark, then Trimble external GPS support tagged New and Mobile, with a map where the location puck turns orange, and enhanced map feature selection beside an iPad screenshot.
  • A page from the 2.0 release notes: Landscape Mode tagged New, with an iPad on its side showing a project form, and Camera Updates tagged Enhanced, with the new multi-capture camera and its film strip of photos.

And the mark could play: a Christmas logo and one for National Donut Day.

  • Codifi’s Christmas logo on an iPad beside wrapped presents: the mark in red and white with its four dots as striped ornaments, and snow on the wordmark.
  • Codifi’s National Donut Day mark: the C drawn as a donut with yellow glaze and a bite out of it, and the four dots as glazed donut holes, on dark teal.

Ourtifact: glass cards in a sliding deck

Ourtifact turns two people’s interviews into one story you listen to, like a podcast. The team wanted it to feel like opening a pack of cards: warm and story-like. I took them to glass cards in a sliding deck over complex gradients, one warm and one cool, and built the design system on Figma variables that map one to one onto Tailwind’s classes.

Ourtifact’s Create screen on the web, warm theme. Under the heading Couples, frosted glass cards for Our Meet-Cute, Engagement Story and Funny Memory slide sideways over a peach-to-gold gradient, each with a quote and a glass heart. A Legacy row starts below.
  • The same screen on a phone, warm theme: one tall glass card, Our Meet-Cute, with the next card peeking in from the right and a glass tab bar at the foot.
  • The phone screen in the cool theme: the same card and tab bar over a sky-blue gradient, with a blue glass heart.
  • Ourtifact’s gradients: five soft background gradients in peach, sky blue, lime, coral and dusk, and the two glass fills, light and dark, that the cards are made of.
